HW shower $10(1) or $20(2) / Go there if you like CD OK only as the bungalow style big rooms are rather empty and not so clean -------------------------------- [Tue 13 Mar, 08:53] I just got back from a trip to Myanmar, and I want to recommend a really greta hotel that I stayed at in Toungoo (on the main road between Yangon and Mandalay). It's called the Mynamar Beauty Guest House. The accomodations themselves are pretty standard, but what made it so fabulous is the AMAZING breakfast we had each morning--enough to feed a horse. The owner, Tin Thein, stayed with us each morning and told us all about the different kinds of fruit we were eating and packed us up little snacks from all the food we couldn't finish. I'm sure there are more polished hotels out there--but I would stay at this one again in a heartbeat. Oh--and if you weren't planning on stopping in Toungoo because there's nothing there, the hotel can arrange an overnight trip for you to the nearby camp where they train elephants for work in the teak forests. [Wed 14 Mar, 01:37] I stayed at this guest house recently and can second the first poster's comment. The inn is set in an old teak house and the second floor is very attractive and traditional -- try for one of the very large non a/c rooms at the front for US$4 single. The breakfast is astonishing; I got up late and was about to skip out on it -- I don't usually eat that early -- but when I saw all the food layed out I understood why the owner had kept pressing me to take breakfast. Taungoo, by the way, is not a bad place to spend some time walking about, though I didn't find any good place to eat lunch or dinner.
