I think this is the cliched image of Japan, the seemingly sacred shrine next to the seemingly profane Love Hotel. It bored me almost before I snapped the picture. But I’ve fought through my boredom to bring it to you. Taken on “love hotel hill” in Shibuya, yesterday.

Does the sign give the cost to, um, merely REST (e.g. a quickie) as opposed to an overnight STEY… a more serious committment?
Fred,
you have surmised this sign correctly. at today’s exchange rate, a REST will set one back about $45 (for anywhere from 2 to 4 hours, depending on the place), while an overnight STEY (er, STAY) will cost one about $80. As with most things in life, the more serious committment requires a bigger investment.
What’s wrong with love hotels eh?
