Yurakucho, November 4, 2003. Bessa R2, Konica Hexanon 50mm/2, Fuji Neopan 400 Presto.
For different reasons I’ve been often finding myself in Yurakucho station of late. On this particular occassion Naoko insisted I get a shoeshine for my weary Rockports that have now lasted longer than a year and half of almost daily use, and I snapped the above mirror shot while the nice man was working on my shoes. More Yurakucho images from the last month can be seen here.

I really enjoy your pictures. Thanks for sharing them.
And so, with minimal fanfare, the Voigtlander Bessa R2 makes its first public appearance.
Beautifully constructed picture. I look forward to seeing more.
kurt we havent seen you on the site that often and this photo makes me smile because you look so… professional! i think it’s the shorter hair.
how’s the Bessa working out? you didn’t seem to sure about it in Shinjuku. It’s cool how your reflection is completely in focus but the photo of the woman in kimono is blurred out.
Thanks all for the comments.
Wayne, you comment reminds me that what I now take for granted (eg. my “professional” appearance) most of my friends and ex-co-workers back in San Francisco would be shocked to see. I’ll let you know that while it’s not really apparent in the photo, I was also wearing a tie when I took this!
Mark, we’re getting along fine, me and the Bessa. Really my qualms about the camera have more to do with my initial lens choice (the 50mm). For what I’m interested in shooting, 35mm is a focal length I’d be happier with. But after some funds materialize, I’ll be getting one.
yes now that you point it out, i can see the tie. lower haight kurt is dead. long live the tokyo kurt!
A very inspiring album – this weekend I definitely need to ‘hit’ the streets
Inspiring stuff. I’ll have to visit more often.
