Kaika turned 1 yesterday. Happy birthday, son. Hard to believe it’s been a year since this day. There are days I can’t wait for you to grow up, stand on your own two feet, play catch with your Papa, flower like your name into the wonderful person I know you’ll be….And then there are others when I ask you not to hurry, not to grow up too fast, there’s no need to be hasty, everything in its own time. Yesterday was a day for the latter.

  1. Happy Birthday to my fellow hitsuji. Our little monkey baby is coming up on one month, and I think he’s starting to recognize Daddy’s camera. “Not more photos??!!”

  2. my daughter has really grown to love the camera in her face, even more now because she can recongize herself and others in photographs. I’m sure Kaika’s the same way and Gregory will be that way as well.

  3. I can’t believe it either, Kurt. It was around the time I started writng my blog that Kaika was born. Happy birthday Kaika. When are you sending him to kids English classes?

  5. happy birthday kaika. i don’t think that i realized last year that you have the same birthday as my aunt iris (there is the flower connection too.)
your dad says that he wants you to grow up soon, but not too soon. please do not interpret that to mean that he will appreciate outbursts of regressive behavior along the way. be kind to your folks.

  6. happy birthday little guy! kurt you must be proud. man, time flys… i remember seeing that entry for when he was born here on your site… seems like only yesterday.
