One thing we've discovered, the Tokyo train/subway system isn't very disabled/baby stroller friendly.

I could not agree more. Even the station where our hospital is located, an obstetrics hospital at that, has no escalator or elevator, and your damn lucky if someone offers to help you carry the stroller.

that's pretty amazing if you think about it, and considering that that particular hospital has some reknown (so says my wife), all the more so. On the "lucky if someone offers to help carry the stroller" issue, same can be said about someone offering up their seat on the train, or folks getting out of the way when your entering/exiting. Thank god we have access to the in-law's car and are not confined to using public transportation, although it usually means we're going in the opposite direction of Tokyo (traffic).
